Aeras intelligent Utility Products
In February 2020 DentalEZ launched the first internet connected intelligent dental products on the market. I had the privilege of being the project manager for these products and to kick off the project in mid 2018. We spent 6 months setting the goals and strategy and then officially kicked design off in January 2019 with a 13 month launch timeline. I pulled a team together with in house talent and partnered with technical experts from other companies to fill in the gaps. We hit all our goals and built dental compressors and vacuums that have 12+ strategically chosen sensors monitoring all mechanical parts that could fail and environmental factors that could affect the device operation. All the data is then passed up to AWS through a cellular connection. We also built a web app front end that provides two way communication to the device and a user friendly interface to the device and data. The user will receive alerts if anything is going wrong on the device or if it needs maintenance. The user also gets real time access to the device sensors and the ability to remotely control the device. We've had great feedback from the market and have continued to refine the product line through over the air software updates since launch. We're now working to extract additional value from the data we've accumulated by predicting device issues before they even happen with machine learning. This has been a challenging cross-company project that continues to bring exciting opportunities for the company's future. We continue to push forward across other product lines and into new domains.
